The Caring for Others (CFO) organization on Sunday, donated over 100 hampers of food items in time for the festive season, to residents of Wismar, Linden. The donation was done in Block 22, Wismar and saw scores of residents benefiting from the venture, many of whom are senior citizens.
Executive Member of CFO Guyana Chapter, Member of Parliament Jermaine Figueira, presented the hampers on behalf of the organization. He said that the gesture is to provide the much-needed assistance, more so during this season of giving. The year 2020, has been especially hard on households, as a result of the economic challenges brought on by the pandemic. Many families found it difficult to even put food and their tables. Figueira said he is elated to have partnered with CFO, to give back in this regard. “COVID has affected a lot of families, and as a result, a lot of families don’t have and you know we are in the festive season, and I am happy that Caring for Others have recognized a number of families in this community who have experienced hardships,” he said.
Caring for Others’ mission is to put a voice to the faces of poverty around the world and has done so on many occasions in Region 10 over the years. In expressing their appreciation, many of the beneficiaries said they did not benefit from the COVID-19 cash grand distribution and this donation, will fill the hole the pandemic left on their tables, especially during this season. They also expressed gratitude to MP Figueira for making the necessary representation through the organization, for residents of Linden to continuously benefit from its humanitarian ventures.
