Banks DIH Linden branch, on Saturday, made a tangible donation to the Region 10 Disaster Preparedness and Relief Committee (DPRC), to assist the hundreds of residents who have been affected by region-wide flooding. The donation was handed over by Branch Manager Devon Warrick to Head of the Committee and Regional Chairman, Deron Adams and Regional Member of Parliament, Jermaine Figueira.

The contribution consists of 200 cases of rainforest water and 200 boxes 300gs biscuits. Warrick said that the company is one that honours its corporate responsibility and as one of the major corporate entities in Region 10, a disaster of this magnitude could not have been ignored; hence the necessary intervention was made. “While the company has made similar donations nationally, it realises the severity of the flooding in Region 10 and is happy to make such a tangible contribution,” Warrick said in an invited comment. The company will continue to monitor the situation to see whether another contribution is needed in the near future.

RC Adams said the Committee appreciates the donation, since it is badly needed at this time, when the flow of potable water has been affected in flooded communities. MP Figueira said he is also appreciative of the donation and urged other individuals, businesses and organizations to make a contribution. “It doesn’t matter if it is one bottle of water or a case, one tin of corn or a bottle of oil, it will make a difference,” he said.

The Praise Tabernacle AoG Church, also donated a truckload of food supplies for affected families in Aroiama and Kwakwani.
