Gun men in custody after opening fire on Linden ranks

Four persons are in custody at the Mackenzie Police Station after occupants of a motor car opened fire on ranks around 01:30 hrs, Friday morning.

Police were on mobile patrol in the vicinity of Five Corner Mackenzie Linden when a loud explosion which sounded like a gunshot was heard followed by loud rapid explosions which sounded like gunshots.

As a result, the ranks went to Speightland Kara-Kara, Mackenzie Linden when they observed a black motorcar coming in the direction of the police vehicle at a fast rate.

The ranks exited the vehicle in an attempt to stop the said car which stopped and an identifiable male exited the motorcar from the front passenger side and fired a shot in the direction of the ranks, and drove off.

The ranks gave chase behind the said motorcar which crashed into the fence of the McKenzie Sports Club and turned turtle.

The said male then exited the car and jumped on top of the said fence and began running, while an identifiable female was seen crawling out of the said car.

The ranks gave chase behind them and managed to capture the male who was hiding in some bushes.

Another identifiable male, who was also an occupant of the said motorcar made good his escape.

The police then went to the scene where the loud rapid explosions came from and four 9mm spent shells were found in a yard at Speightland Kara Kara.
