On Monday, Humanity First Guyana, held a medical outreach at the Wismar Post Office in Linden, which saw scores of residents benefiting from the healthcare services provided. The international NGO partnered with Courts Optical, the Region 10 Department of Health, staff of the Linden Hospital Complex and the Christianburg Health Centre. Residents who benefit had their blood pressure and sugar tested, free consultation with doctors and received free medication. The outreach also included a physiotherapy department, which treated a number of senior citizens who had troubled ankles, knees and hips. Ear testing services were also offered. Courts Optical took free eye examinations which were followed by optometrist consultation.
Humanity First is an international NGO registered in over 60 countries and the charity arm of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Worldwide.
It serves to provide food security, medical aid, disaster relief, education and other reliefs across the globe.
Humanity First Guyana specifically carries out activities such as food security and medical outreaches year long. Previous outreaches were held in Georgetown, Low Wood Village, Berbice, Rosignol and Linden. Maulana Fahd Peerzada of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at and Chairman Humanity First Linden, was the lead organiser for this outreach in Linden.
