THE TRUTH IN BLACK AND WHITE

Access Entertainment pushing women empowerment with ‘WIS’ J’ouvert

Linden entertainment company Access Entertainment is focusing on women empowerment at the Linden J’ouvert slated for March 4th at Rasville, Wismar, Linden. The annual event which customarily runs off the eve of Linden Mashramani is themed ‘Women in Soca’ (WIS) which will see only female DJ’s and Selectors headlining the event. Special Guest DJ Ana from Trinidad and Tobago will be the highlight of the night as well as Linden birthed and only female selector Bruuutal.

Executive member of access entertainment Anthony Whyte said that the aim of the event is to give recognition to women in the entertainment industry. “We are always hearing about male DJ’s and selectors in the entertainment industry, so what we want to do this year is not pull off a regular wet fete but to recognize women in the entertainment industry and that women can be DJ’s and selectors just as men,” he said.

The event forms part of the official Republic calendar of activities for Region 10. DJ Ana said she was DJing since she was eight years old and is anticipating an exceptional night with Lindeners. “It has been an amazing journey, I am so happy and grateful for where I am at today and I appreciate the support I get from you guys…..I am really excited to come and see you guys” she said.

Meanwhile Aliyah Dey who goes by the stage name Selector Bruuutal will also headline the event. She is Linden’s lone female selector and has been doing so since the age of 12. Meanwhile the event will commence at 20:00hrs and will have two zones: the wet and the dry zone to facilitate each patron’s comfortability. Early bird tickets are $1500, general $2000 and VIP $5000.
