
A police sergeant identified as Jermain Semple of Hope Town, West Coast Berbice, is said to be in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, after he was allegedly shot at close range by his cousin identified as Linden contractor Fawaz McRae, on Sunday night at the Crown and Anchor bar, in Amelia’s Ward Linden. The two who are said to be cousins, were imbibing at Bamia Creek before going to Crown and Anchor when a fight ensued. It is unsure what started the fight.

McRae, who is a licensed firearm holder was stabbed to his neck and hand before he allegedly opened fire at Semple at close range. Semple was reportedly shot to the head. Medical personnel related that he is breathing on a ventilator.
McRae initially was hospitalised but was released and is now in police custody assisting with investigations. Police recovered two rounds at the scene. Investigation is ongoing.
