LTI Dorms

Students residing in hinterland and riverain communities of Region 10, will get the opportunity to pursue tertiary vocational education at the Linden Technical Institute (LTI), now that accommodation will be available to them at the spanking new dormitory that will be commissioned in time for the commencement of the new academic year. Major construction works are completed while minor works such as electricity and plumbing are currently being executed.

When completed, the dormitory will cater to 150 students. The institution will create employment for Lindeners for positions such as security guards, cleaners, cooks and dorm parents. Rules and regulations for the dorm will be applied during the preparation stage. All provisions for the dorm are expected to be catered for in the government’s education budget. Some communities that will benefit include Rockstone, Malali, Kwakwani and villages located on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.

Principal of the LTI, Hector Anthony, explained that it is part of his job to find ways to assist persons of the community to benefit academically. “Our job is to continue to provide training to the community and people of interest.”

Meanwhile, expansion and upgrading works are currently being done to the automotive workshop to facilitate the Heavy-Duty Equipment Maintenance programme. Additionally, major works for 2024 planned for the institution include expansion to the main building to facilitate additional classrooms.
