A group of local businesses, on Thursday, honoured their corporate responsibility by making a timely donation of pastries to several agencies where civil servants are employed. These include the Region 10- Department of Education, Linden Mayor and Town Council, the Mackenzie Police Station and the Regional Democratic Council.

The businesses that undertook the venture are VENTRIZ Flavored Plantain Chips, Nicable Natural home-made Juice and Channa Delectable. Chief Executive Officer of VENTRIZ Flavored Plantain Chips, Mr. Garth Nelson, said that the initiative is to express appreciation for civil servants, who  work tirelessly for the betterment of our region. “The three businesses came together to show love and approbation for the civil servants, who work tirelessly to keep our community safe and productive,” he said.

This is the second venture of this nature that the businesses embarked on. A few weeks ago, the businesses also donated pastries to health workers employed at various institutions, including the Linden Hospital Complex. During the pandemic, there has been a renewed sense of appreciation for front-line workers, since they risk their lives daily to provide an essential service.

Nelson said that while no other distribution is planned for 2020, the businesses plan to continue supporting civil servants tangibly. One way they are doing so, is by allowing civil servants to purchase their products at half price.
