Kwakwani sees spike in COVID-19 cases

  • Region 10 now has 135 COVID-19 cases

The logging community of Kwakwani, saw a spike in COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, after 10 persons were tested positive. This has taken the active cases in the community to 13. Two persons are in institutional isolation and 11 in home isolation.

According to the Medical Superintendent, Nigel Anthony, the community will continue to see a spike in cases because persons in home isolation are not adhering to the 14-days home isolation measures outlined by the Ministry of Health.

Anthony is pleading with the business community to observe all COVID-19 guidelines and reject customers unwilling to wear a face mask. To date,17 persons have tested positive in the community.

Meanwhile there are now 135 active cases in the entire region. A total of 497 persons have tested positive in the region. Out of these, six persons have died from COVID-19.
