Heart for Kids Visionary Foundation on Thursday, presented 21 textbooks to the Mackenzie High School (MHS), which will be ulitised by Sixth Form students pursuing Communication Studies at the Caribbean Advance Proficiency Examination (CAPE). This is the NGO’s first venture and according to President of the Linden Chapter Royston Retemyer, this book drive was chosen because the members were cognizant of the difficulty it was to source the books and that there were several students not in possession of one. For this contribution, he said it was a hassle to even source the books from a single supplier in the entire country.
The books are also very expensive and Retemyer said it feels really good to make this provision possible, especially for students who cannot afford the books. “I think it will go a long way in helping not only the current class but the future classes, not everyone will have internet access to get the digital copy, which is pretty expensive as well, so I feel really good about it,” he said.
Heart for Kids Visionary Foundation is a newly formed NGO, which consists of members in Linden and the diaspora. The mission is to provide tangible assistance to children who cannot afford basic necessities, particularly for education. Retemyer said several projects are expected to be rolled out soon.
