Care packages to women in shelters across the Upper-Berbice district, who were displaced because of widespread flooding, were distributed by Regional Councillor Rosamond Samuels. Sixty Five packages were presented to the Regional Democratic Council by Member of Parliament, Amanza Walton Desir, on Wednesday. The packages were provided by Caribbean Life TV, Guyana Association of Georgia and the Caribbean Association of Georgia.
The care packages, which contain personal items, were compiled in an effort to provide some level of relief to women who are now unable to provide for their basic needs.” We have put together a care package for each of our sisters who are in shelters. We really do hope that we will go some way to alleviate what I know has to be a distressing situation,” the Hon.Amanza Walton Desir said, during a live presentation of the care packages on Facebook.
The MP pledged her continuous support in providing needed personal relief supplies for displaced women across the shelters in Region 10.
She also extended her heartfelt thanks to Caribbean Life Tv and Insurance Brokers Guyana Limited for playing an instrumental role in financing the care packages.
