A Linden man, identified as Keno Griffith aka Tuckie, succumbed on Monday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), to chop wounds, eight days after he was chopped to his head and hand with a cutlass, for representing a woman who was squeezed to her breast.
The suspect, Rochino Maison, age 24 years of Kara Kara Mackenzie, was charged with attempted murder and was remanded to prison until August, 16th 2021. Family members confirmed that Griffith died at GPHC. After his condition worsened, he was transferred to GPHC, from the Linden Hospital Complex . According to the police, Maison and a female resident of the community had a misunderstanding; during that misunderstanding, Maison allegedly squeezed her breast and she spat on him. The suspect then became annoyed and he threw a bucket of water on her.
As such, Griffith went to her assistance and an argument ensued between him and Maison, which resulted in a scuffle.
Maison then allegedly armed himself with a cutlass and dealt Griffith a chop to his arm and one to his head.
Maison appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday July, 29th and was not required to plea to the indictable charge, bail was refused and he was remanded to prison.
Now that Griffith succumbed to his injuries, the charges are expected to change to manslaughter or murder.
