
Schools representing the Upper Demerara-Berbice Region at the Inter District School Kayaking Competition on Monday, walked away as winners of every category. The competition was hosted by Elite Kayaking and Nature Tours and was held at the Watooka Guest House. Schools from all across Guyana participated in the competition which was the first of its kind.
For the male and female individual categories, Iwayne Torrez and Shaneeza Cornelius, both from Region 10, copped first prizes. Cornelius who competed against nine other students expressed to www.sports592.com how happy she was to emerge victorious. ” I am proud for me, my family, my school and district , its a great pleasure.”

Similar sentiments were expressed by Torrez. “I am proud of my performance today, I won this race, my friend won the first time and linden, my school and family can celebrate my victory.”

Meanwhile in the relay categories, Ezekiel Persaud alongside Limuel Wilson copped the first prize. Persaud said that his team was prepared like in the previous event and that there was no challenger to come close to them. “We did what was expected as us to win and we executed all as plan…..we will continue to prepare as a team for upcoming events.”
