LFU Guyana Inc, Elite Kayaking honour Region 10 NGSA top performers

On Saturday, the Elite Kayaking and Nature Tours in collaboration with the Linden Fund USA (LFU) Guyana Inc. , hosted an award ceremony to celebrate Region 10’s top National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) performers.

Each of the top 10 performers were given a certificate, trophy, and cash prize. Following the award ceremony, the top students were treated to an all-inclusive kayaking day tour. Many of them for the first time kayaked the amazing blue lakes and scenic Kara Kara Creek that are beautifully nestled between the picturesque fauna of Kara Kara.

According to Dr. Deon Anderson, LFU Board Member and CEO of Elite Kayaking, the objective of the unique award is to provide these high achieving students with not only the well-deserved recognition and financial award but to create a sense of patriotism through eco-tourism in their hometown by understanding their potential role as future leaders. Anderson told the students that, “your desire to success must be greater than your fair of failure”.

Present at the award ceremony were also Mayor Elect Mr. Sharma Solomon and Regional Education Officer Mrs. Nicola Matthews.

Mayor Elect Solomon told the students, “the only thing holding you back is you.” He encouraged them to always be humble, thankful, respectful and he challenged them to forever show gratitude to their teachers and parents since they will always need their support.

Meanwhile the REDO, Nicola Matthews posited, that this year is a historic year for Region 10 since all top 10 performers were placed at Queen’s College and expressed how they have surely made the region proud. “Never give up, always think positive and aim for the stars,” she said.

The LFU Guyana Inc. and Elite Kayaking held its first award ceremony in 2021 and intends for it to be an annual activity for the outstanding performers at NGSA.
