Mackenzie Primary benefits from timely donation of school supplies

As students prepare to return to school, students from the Mackenzie Primary School recently benefited from a timely donation of school supplies. The donation was made by an overseas based Non Profit Organization, ‘Helping Kids 4 Uss’. The supplies, which consisted of mainly stationery, met the needs of 22 pupils from Grades One to Six, the school’s Head Teacher Camille Cummings confirmed.

She said the school, which is one of Linden’s oldest primary schools, was recommended by Ms Dawn Hazelwood of Madam D Salon to the donors. “The CEO Mr. Jefferson Solomon who is not a Lindener accepted and spoke with me….he quickly began packing with help of donors,” she said. Solomon has a dream to give back to kids around Guyana and would have started his philanthropic journey. Mackenzie Primary School is the second school to benefit from one of his back to school drives.

In an expression of appreciation, the school presented the organization with a certificate of appreciation which was collected by Public Relations Officer Mr. Oswald Benjamin. HM Cummings said she is extremely grateful for the donation, which was not only thoughtful but timely. Present at the handing over ceremony was Regional Chairman Deron Adams; Head of the Regional Education Committee, Ms Carol Benjamin and representatives from Helping Kids 4usss.
