THE TRUTH IN BLACK AND WHITE

LTW 2022 to return with a bang

After two years, the highly anticipated Linden Town Week (LTW) 2022, is expected to return with a bang with over 60 events on the calendar. While Linden Town Week was celebrated in 2021, most of the events were held virtually. With the relaxation of COVID-19 measures, the calendar has included all signature events along with new events targeting all age groups.

This year, the town of Linden will be celebrating 52 years under the theme, “Together we Build”. The Linden Mayor and Town Council is the exclusive organizer of LTW and has formed a committee, chaired by Councillor Lawrence Simon. Simon promises that the ‘normal’ return of Linden Town Week will not disappoint Lindeners and the hundreds of expected visitors. The calendar is a fusion of entertainment, culture, sports, tourism and business development, amongst other things. All demographics he said, have been catered for.

The 12-day calendar commences on Saturday, April 23rd and will conclude on Thursday, May 5th. Activities include the honouring of all past Mayors, basketball, football and other sporting competitions, a teen and a ‘Big and Bold’ pageant, addresses to the town from the Town Clerk and the Mayor, health fairs, school competitions, art and craft exhibitions, a business exposition, fly overs, amongst others.

Highly anticipated are the signature parties that were not enjoyed for two years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ‘Grown Folks Outside’ party catering for the mature folks expects to be a crowd puller. It will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at the Mackenzie Band Stand. The New Era- All Black Party is another ‘hyped’ signature party to be held on Saturday,April 30th at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground. It is the only event with performance from a regional artiste, Shaneil Muir.  Other signature parties that are on the calendar include ‘Yellow Exclusive’ and ‘All White’. Culminating the activities will be a grand wash down party at the Kara Kara Blue Lake.
