Linden contractor remanded for shooting police

Remanded Fawazz McRae

Linden contractor, 27-year-old Fawazz McRae, was remanded to prison on Wednesday by Magistrate Wanda Fortune. He was charged for attempted murder at the Linden Magistrates’ Court

Mc Rae was charged for shooting his cousin, 32-year-old Sergeant of Police, Jermain Semple about 21:30 hrs on Sunday, at the Crown and Anchor Grill and Bar in Linden.

According to investigations, Jermain Semple, who is stationed at the Tactical Services Unit along with his brother Dervon Semple and cousin Fawazz McRae, were at the Crown and Anchor Grill and Bar when a fight emerged between the victim and his brother.

During the altercation, Fawazz went to ‘part’ them, and a fight ensued between the victim and Fawaaz, which caused him (Fawaaz) to take out his licensed handgun (one .32  pistol) and discharge two rounds in the victim’s direction. One struck the victim in his head, causing him to receive severe injuries. He was then rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he remains on life support
