THE TRUTH IN BLACK AND WHITE

Linden Town Week officially opens today

The official opening of the Linden Town Week celebrations is slated for this afternoon, which will officially commence the 11- days calendar of activities.  This year Linden is celebrating 53 years as a town and to mark this occasion, the celebration is being held under the theme, ‘Re-envisioning Linden’

Some of the headlining events include the Entrepreneurial Village and Arts Festival to be held for three days at the Linden Technical Institute, the Rivertown Music and Arts Festival to be held at Rasville also for three days, the Real All Black Party and the Inter Schools Kayaking Competition.

The first day of celebrations include the opening ceremony, the Celebrity Avenue Ville MHS Alumni Reunion, Speedy Comedy Star Search and Golden Taste Colors Street Jam. Activities span across education, sports, entertainment, business and tourism. Other activities include schools’ Spelling B competition, a gospel concert, schools’ football competition, bird whistling competition, domino competition, a building expo and others.

In a recent interview with the Mayor of Linden Waneka Arrindell, she said “The overall vision of Linden Town Week is in tack.” She also posited that she believes that over the years the LTW celebrations has strayed away the history, culture and richness of the town so this year added to the calendar of activities the Council will be honoring all the athletes, persons who would have participated in the recent Mashramani competition, science fair, and other ambassadors of the town, at its Grand Sunday on April 30th.

The Linden Town Week, which began in 1996, is now a yearly event not only anticipated by locals, but Guyanese in Guyana and the diaspora as well as regional and international tourists.
