Police in Linden are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sexual assault on a female toddler that occurred last week. The matter was reported to the police and an investigation was launched. According to Commander of the Division Hugh Winter, a male relative of the toddler was arrested but was later placed on bail following advice from the Department of Public Prosecution that more investigation needs to be done before charges are laid.
The matter was reported to the police by relatives and the child was taken to a public hospital where she remains a patient. INFO 10 was reliably informed that when examined the child showed signs of sexual assault. It is unclear whether the perpetrator engaged in penetrative sex with the child.
The matter was reported to the Child Protection Agency and the investigation is ongoing
