One Mile woman who returned to Guyana to bury her mother, died on her way from the airport to Linden

A woman who returned to Guyana to bury her mother, died the same day, in a Linden Highway smash up, on Thursday evening. Dead is 56-year-old-June Forde. She was driven by her son, 37-year-old Michael Ford of One Mile Wismar, who picked her up from the airport, family members confirmed

According to the police, the accident occurred around 19:30 hrs, around Hararuni Public Road, Linden Soesdyke, Highway. Enquiries disclosed that motor lorry GZZ 2701 driven by Cavel Carew age 25 years of South Amelia’s Ward Linden, was proceeding north along the western side of the said road, while motorcar PTT 7073 driven by Ford, was proceeding in the opposite direction.

While in the process of passing each other the motorcar ended up in the western drive lane and collided with the front left side of the motor lorry.

As a result of the collision, both vehicles received damages and June Forde was taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious condition while Michael Forde was taken out of the said vehicle in a conscious condition.

They were both placed into a passing vehicle and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where they were seen and examined by doctors on duty and June Forde was pronounced dead on arrival.

Michael Forde was then transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by doctors on duty and was admitted a patient suffering from a penetrated injury to the right eye.

The driver of the motor lorry was subjected to a breathalyzer test but no trace of alcohol was found on his breath.

He remains in custody as further inquiries are conducted.
